Surrendering to God – Finding Hope in the Midst of Highs and Lows

Life can be filled with highs and lows, and it’s during these challenging moments that we often find ourselves searching for hope and guidance. Have you ever considered surrendering to a higher power to find peace and strength during these times?

In times of struggle, many turn to religion or spirituality as a source of comfort and peace. Yielding to God, or a higher power, can help individuals navigate through the highs and lows of life, providing them with a sense of hope and purpose.

In the face of uncertainty, yielding to God can offer a profound sense of relief and assurance. It allows individuals to let go of their own attempts to control their circumstances and instead trust in a greater plan. This surrender opens the door for hope to flourish, bringing comfort and clarity in the midst of life’s challenges. Whether you’re facing a personal crisis, searching for meaning, or simply seeking a guiding light, surrendering to God can be a transformative journey towards finding hope in the highs and lows of life.

The Bible is full of ups and downs.

What is Surrendering to God?

Surrendering to God means giving up control and allowing God to take the lead in our lives. It is an act of trust and humility, recognizing that God’s plans and ways are higher and better than our own. It requires us to let go of our own desires, ambitions, and agendas, and instead surrender our will to His will. It is a submission of our whole being – mind, heart, and body – to be used for God’s purposes and glory. It is not a one-time event, but a daily decision to submit to His authority and guidance.

When we surrender to God, we are acknowledging that He is the sovereign ruler of the universe and that His ways are perfect and just. It is an acknowledgement that we are not in control, but that God is. Bowing our lives down to God means allowing Him to be the one who directs our steps, guides our decisions, and shapes our character. It means laying down our own desires and accepting God’s will, even when it may not align with our own plans or understanding.

Yielding to God is a transformative process that leads to freedom and peace. It is through obeying God that we find true rest for our souls and experience the abundant life that Jesus promised. When we obey God, we no longer have to carry the burdens of this world on our own. We can trust that God is working all things together for our good and His glory. Yielding to God allows us to let go of the need to control everything and instead rest in His loving and capable hands.

In surrendering to God, we are giving up our own will and desires to align with God’s perfect will for our lives. We are choosing to trust in His wisdom and guidance, even when it may not make sense to us. Surrendering to God is an act of faith, believing that He knows what is best for us and that His plans are far greater than anything we could ever conceive. It is a surrender of our own limited understanding and a stepping into the realm of God’s infinite wisdom and love.

Yielding to God is not always easy. It requires humility, vulnerability, and a willingness to let go of control. But the rewards of following God are immeasurable. It is in surrendering to God that we find true peace, joy, and purpose. It is in yielding to God that our lives are transformed and we become more like Christ.

Understanding the Hights and Lows in Life

In the journey of life, we all experience up and downs but God is greater. It is during these times that our understanding of the power of the Holy Spirit becomes crucial. We must remember that He is our constant companion, guiding us through every situation, whether it be a high or a low. Without God, our understanding of these seasons would be limited and our ability to navigate them effectively would be diminished. Therefore, it is imperative that we rely on the power of the Holy Spirit to gain true understanding in the highs and lows of life.

When we find ourselves in the highs of life, it is easy to become prideful and self-sufficient. We may start to rely on our own strength, knowledge, or accomplishments, forgetting that everything good and perfect comes from God. He reminds us that even in the midst of success and joy, we are wholly dependent on God’s grace and favor. It is by the power of the Lord that we gain humility and gratitude in these times, acknowledging that our achievements are not solely our own, but a result of God’s blessings upon our lives.

On the other hand, when we face the lows of life, such as trials, disappointments, or losses, it is natural to feel overwhelmed, discouraged, or even hopeless. In these moments, it is the power of the Holy Spirit that brings comfort, peace, and strength. God’s Spirit reminds us of God’s faithfulness, His promises, and His presence in the midst of our pain. With God’s Spirit as our guide, we can find understanding in the purpose and lessons of our hardships, trusting that God works all things together for our ultimate good.

Finding Hope in Surrendering to God

Finding hope in surrendering to God is a concept that may seem counterintuitive to some. In a world that promotes self-reliance and personal achievement, the idea of surrendering control to a higher power can be seen as a weakness. However, when we truly understand the biblical principle of surrender, we realize that it is through this act of letting go that we find true hope and freedom.

Surrendering to God means acknowledging that we are not in control and that we need His guidance and direction in our lives. It requires us to humble ourselves and submit our will to His will. In doing so, we find hope because we trust that God’s plans for us are greater than anything we could ever imagine. We find hope in knowing that He is in control and that He will work all things for our good.

When we yield to God, we let go of our worries, fears, and anxieties. We place them in His capable hands, knowing that He is faithful to provide and take care of us. We find hope in giving up our own wills because we no longer have to carry the burdens of life on our own. Instead, we can lean on God and trust that He will carry us through every trial and tribulation.

It also means surrendering our past mistakes and failures. It means accepting God’s forgiveness and grace, knowing that He has redeemed us and made us new. We find hope in surrendering because we are no longer defined by our past, but by God’s love and mercy. We find hope in knowing that we are forgiven and that we have been given a fresh start.

It is not a one-time event, but a daily practice. It requires us to continually give up our own desires and agendas and seek God’s will above all else. We find hope in surrendering because we know that as we align ourselves with God’s purposes, He will guide our steps and lead us into a future filled with hope and purpose.

Only the Bible helps with life's highs and lows.

Practicing Faith in Times of Uncertainty

Now, more than ever, it is crucial for us to practice our faith in times of uncertainty. We find ourselves in uncharted territory, facing challenges that we never thought we would encounter. It is during these moments that our faith becomes our anchor, our guiding light amidst the storm. When everything seems to be falling apart, we must hold on to our faith and trust in the power of God to see us through.

In times of uncertainty, we may find ourselves filled with fear, doubt, and anxiety. It is natural to question what the future holds and how we will navigate through it. However, as Christians, we are called to have faith, to trust in the unseen and believe that God is in control. The Holy Spirit empowers us to have unwavering faith, even when our circumstances seem dire.

Practicing faith in times of uncertainty means surrendering our worries and fears to God. We must cast our burdens upon Him, knowing that He cares for us and will provide for all our needs. The Lord gives us the strength to let go of our need for control and to trust in God’s perfect plan. It is through faith that we find peace amidst the chaos and hope in the midst of despair.

During uncertain times, it is important to lean on our community of believers. The Holy Spirit unites us as the body of Christ, providing support and encouragement. We are not meant to face these challenges alone. Together, we can pray, uplift one another, and share the burdens that we carry. Through the power of God, our faith can be strengthened as we walk this journey together.

In practicing our faith during times of uncertainty, we are reminded of the biblical principle of perseverance. The book of James teaches us that trials produce perseverance, and perseverance leads to maturity and completeness in our faith. The Holy Spirit gives us the endurance to keep pressing forward, even when things seem impossible. It is through these trials that our faith is refined and strengthened.

Letting Go and Trusting in God’s Plan

Letting go and trusting in God’s plan requires surrendering our own desires and acknowledging that His ways are higher than our ways. It can be difficult to release control and let God take the lead, but it is essential for experiencing true peace and fulfillment in life. We must remember that God is the ultimate orchestrator of our lives and He knows what is best for us.

Letting go is an act of faith, believing that God’s plan is perfect and that He will guide us in the right direction. It means believing that He is working all things together for our good, even when we cannot see it. It means surrendering our worries, fears, and doubts to Him and placing our full confidence in His wisdom and love.

Trusting in God’s plan requires patience and perseverance, for His timing is not always our timing. But when we release our grip and surrender to His will, we open ourselves up to His abundant blessings and the joy of living in alignment with His purpose for our lives.

Embracing Transformation through Surrender

Embracing transformation through surrender is a key principle in the Christian faith. It requires a willingness to let go of our own agendas and desires, and instead submit to God’s will for our lives. This surrender allows the Holy Spirit to work in us, molding us into the image of Christ.

It takes great courage to yield our own plans and trust in God’s plan for us. But when we do, we experience true freedom and liberation from the weight of our own expectations. Surrender opens the door for transformation to occur in our lives, as we allow God to shape us and guide us according to His purposes.

It does not mean giving up or losing control. Rather, it is a conscious choice to release our grip on our own lives and place it in the hands of a loving and all-knowing God. It is an act of surrendering our own wisdom and understanding, and instead relying on God’s infinite wisdom and understanding.

Through yielding, we invite God to take control and lead us on a journey of transformation. This journey may involve challenges and trials, but the Holy Spirit empowers us to overcome and grow through them. We become vessels for God’s work, instruments in His hands to bring about His purposes in this world.

Embracing transformation through giving up our own will is a lifelong process. It requires continual reflection, prayer, and reliance on God. It means constantly aligning our hearts and minds with God’s will, and seeking His guidance in all areas of our lives. It is a daily choice to let go of our own ways and surrender to God’s perfect plan.

The Power of Surrender in Finding Peace

The power of surrender in finding peace is a concept that is often overlooked, but is essential for living a life of true serenity. It is in obeying God our own will and desires to God that we can find true peace and contentment. In a world that constantly tells us to strive and achieve, it is counter-cultural to let go and let God. However, it is in this act of surrender that we can experience the peace that surpasses all understanding.

Many people mistakenly believe that giving in is a sign of weakness or defeat. However, in the eyes of God, surrender is a sign of strength and trust. It is a recognition that we cannot control everything and that there is a higher power at work. When we surrender our worries, fears, and desires to God, we are acknowledging that He is in control and that His plans are far greater than our own.

Giving in to God requires humility and trust. It means letting go of our own agenda and submitting to His will. This can be a challenging process, as it requires us to let go of our own desires and submit to God’s perfect plan. However, when we submit to God, we open ourselves up to His peace and guidance.

The power of yielding is evident throughout the Bible. Countless stories depict individuals who surrendered their lives and will to God, and in return, experienced His peace and provision. Abraham surrendered his own plans and trusted in God’s promise of a son. Moses yielded his fear and doubt and led the Israelites out of slavery. Jesus surrendered Himself to the cross, ultimately bringing salvation to all who believe.

In our own lives, surrendering to God brings freedom from the burdens and worries that weigh us down. It allows us to release control and find rest in His loving arms. Surrendering to God does not mean that we will never face challenges or struggles, but rather, it means that we no longer have to face them alone. God’s power and strength become our own, as we submit to Him and allow Him to lead the way.

Finding peace through surrender is a lifelong journey. It requires daily obedience of our will and desires to God. It is a continual process of letting go and trusting in His goodness and faithfulness. But as we surrender more and more to God, we will experience a peace that cannot be found anywhere else. So, let us embrace the power of surrender and discover the true peace that comes from trusting in God’s plan for our lives.

Living Holy Before God

I often like to look back at history as it teaches me a lot of things. It’s good when we can learn from the past and see how some people were successful, and others were failures. It’s been quite some time since I have seen a real move of God in the church.

I remember back decades ago when the body of Christ experienced the holy spirit in a real way. People were so passionate and hungry for God that oftentimes the churches were packed full of people. They could sit for hours and listen to someone preach the word.

As time went on, the hunger for God seemed to disappear. People stepped back from their commitment to him compared to what they used to do before. Their walk with the Lord stepped down several levels.

When I asked the Lord why this was, he pointed me back to years ago when people would pray at the end of a service. It was in those times of prayer that they seemed to really hear from him more clearly.

Eventually, over time, the church stopped praying this way. People were expected to seek God through prayer and their Bibles at home. Nowadays, it seems as if people only seek God one day a week at church.

Praying For Revival

The prayer team here at Aftermath Ireland is praying for Revival. But if we really want to see this happen, it has two starts within ourselves. If we want to see the move of God, we have two starts to live holy once again.

This leads me to a question that we should ask ourselves every day. Are we in the right standing with God? Many Believers would say yes because they have asked Jesus into their hearts. Well, let me ask you another question “are you walking in the spirit and following God’s principles?

What Is Holiness?

Holiness is not something that is brought up in church much today. When I grew up, we were very familiar with that word and what it meant. Many of us were taught it before we could even pronounce it.

The Bible is very clear about how we should live before the Lord. God wants us to live a holy life that reflects Jesus in all that we do. This isn’t saying that we have to be perfect. It just means that we have to try our best. If we make a mistake, we can ask for forgiveness according to 1 John 1:9.

The Story Of Jacob

I’d like to talk about the story of Jacob because I feel that it is so applicable. The Bible says that he stole his brother’s blessing and then ran away. He eventually got married and served his father-in-law for 20 years. Then one day, God told him to go back to where he came from and settle down.

When Jacob heard this, he knew he had a big job ahead of him. So before he did anything else, he got his life in check and purified himself.

God is no different today. He has assignments for each of us to complete that is impossible for us to do on our own. In order to complete them, we have to clean up our lives first.

Living Holy

If I could make this article on Holiness practical, I would say that it means a holy lifestyle is one where God controls every decision and action.

This means we need to set a guard over our minds and our mouths. We need to think before we say a word. We need to think before we take action.

Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and words cannot be taken back. We can try as hard as we can, but words spoken inappropriately cannot ever be returned to us. That is why it is better not to say anything at all if we can help it.

Decide today to keep yourself pure, an instrument that God can use. When you live a holy life, you will be ready for God to use you for every good work.

How Does The Lord See You

The cross of Jesus next to an open Bible.Somewhere inside each and every person is a longing desire to live a life of significance. They want to make a difference in this world of Jesus. The question is, how can you do it if you aren’t sure how the Lord sees you? What you can take comfort in knowing is that you are part of the family of God. You are His child, and He loves you. Since you are a family member, you have access to His amazing grace.

You Are In Christ

Time and again, people just don’t know what they have in Christ. They don’t take the time to pray to God and look to the scriptures. They have a wrong perception of who God is, and it is hurting them more than they know.

They believe that God is impressed with the performance. They think that if they do enough, He’ll bless them. The truth is, it’s not about what you can do for Him but what He has already done for you through His Son. It’s about grace and not about our works.

Even while you were a sinner, God loved you and gave His Son for you. You are no longer under the dominion of sin and the devil. When God looks at you, He sees you as righteous because Jesus took your place. That’s something to shout about. Thank You, Jesus.

God desires that you experience His love for you. He wants goodness and mercy to chase you down all the days of your life. God is good, and His plans for you are pleasant.

Live For Jesus

As you received Jesus, the Bible says to continue living your life in the same way. By faith, through grace, you are to enjoy the things of God. As you receive salvation through faith, you can also receive God’s grace in order to do what He has called you to do. All you need to do is step out and take action.

When you put action to your faith, that is when God’s extraordinary power starts to happen. His anointing and glory will flow in and through you. When you walk into a room, the presence of the Lord does too. When you carry out daily prayer, the power of God flows into the situations you are praying about.

The Lord sees you through the blood of Jesus. This means that His grace is yours, and you have access to it right now. You’ve been accepted into His family, and God will work through you as you go about your day. When you let that truth sink in, it will change your life forever. As a result, it will also spill over into the lives of those around you.

A chain with a cross lies on top of a Bible.

Press Into Knowing God

Even if you are in a place where you’re not sure what your purpose and calling are, you can still press in and believe that God is in your life. The catch is you have to allow the truth of God’s goodness to become real to you, and then you can make a difference in the lives of others.

Every day when you wake up, the best thing you can do is to raise your hands in prayer and tell God you completely depend on Him. That you are leaning entirely on Him, and you’re going to fall if He doesn’t come through. The truth is He won’t fail you.

God desires that you experience liberty in Christ so that you are blessed, and those around you are blessed too. When you fall in love with God, life gets exciting. Let Him love you, and your life will become a living banner of the Lord Most High. Then the reality that you’re His child and full of His grace will explode to the next level.

Faith In The One True God

Anyone who believes in God recognizes just how important faith is. Faith is the most significant part of our relationship with God. In Hebrews, the Bible says that without faith, you are not going to please God in any way. The Word of God also says that anything is possible for those who keep their faith in God. One might ask if we need faith. Is faith in God really that important?

The answer is an emphatic yes. Thankfully, Believers in God have the same faith that Jesus has because it has been given to them as a gift. It’s not about your faith in Him but the fact that His faith is at work within your life right this very moment.

Jesus faithfully hanging on the cross of Calvary.

Unfortunately, this good news often falls on deaf ears. Most Christians do not want to hear this. Time and again, they pray for God to increase their faith. Even those who followed Jesus when He walked on this earth thought the same thing. When they asked the Lord to grow their faith for them, He told them that if they had faith as small as a mustard seed, it could move mountains!

Faith As Small As a Mustard Seed

What an amazing thing for Jesus to say. Faith, even in its smallest form, is so powerful. It could pick up a tree or a mountain and throw it into the sea. The point is that the disciples didn’t need more faith. They simply needed to use what they were given.

It is important to note that we are born again by the faith of Jesus and not faith in Jesus. There is a difference. In order to step over into the family of God, we had to be given faith as a gift in order to exercise it and ask the Lord into our hearts. Jesus did everything for us so that we might be saved.

That is what makes salvation so special. It is a gift from Heaven. There is no way we could ever have saved ourselves. All that salvation is and can do is because God loves us. He wanted a relationship so much that He even provided the faith needed in order to see that come into a spiritual reality when we prayed the salvation prayer.

Human Faith Is Different

There is a difference between spiritual faith and human faith. There is a certain amount of faith it takes to sit down in a chair and trust that it will hold our weight. It also takes human faith to believe that when we flip a switch, the lights will turn on. Everyone has the ability to walk in a natural faith. This is all based on our five physical senses.

When it comes to being Born Again and filled with God’s Spirit, we believe in something we cannot sense. Godly faith is intangible. You may now be wondering where faith comes from.

The Bible says that spiritual faith comes from hearing God’s Word. There is no way to be saved unless one hears the Good News of the Gospel and then prays. When we hear God’s Word, faith is imparted into our spirits. We had to have faith given to us this way in order that we might believe what we cannot see.

Right in that special moment of inviting Jesus into our hearts, a measure of faith is given to us. This is the same measure every Believer receives when they pray to be saved.

Bible sitting on a pew in a Christian church.

It is just like being served soup from a ladle. Everyone who has a bowl receives the same amount of soup because the same ladle is being used to feed everyone. The misconception some Christians have is that they believe one person got a ladle full of faith and another only received a spoonful. This is not true.

They mistakenly believe that one person received more faith than others. They think that the Lord has favorites and that maybe He gave more faith to someone than He gave to someone else.

Even the great Apostle Paul received the same amount of faith as Christians who are living today (Romans 12:3). We all have the same faith. It is the faith of Jesus Christ.

As you go from here, always remember that faith in the One True God is the same for each and every one of us. There is so much you can do right now with the faith that you have in your heart right now.
